Use the built-in Evernote connection
Notion documents an Evernote importer in Settings under Import and Third party imports. Connect the account, select notebooks, and choose the destination. Notebooks become pages and their notes become database items. This guide covers that direct route rather than treating an ENEX archive as a file Notion necessarily accepts.
Start with one useful notebook
Choose a notebook with ordinary notes, images, tables, and attachments. Keep a separate Evernote export so you have a recoverable source. After import, inspect how an individual note is represented in the destination database and whether the chosen location is appropriate for private or shared material.
Expect limits on large imports
Notion’s help page describes reliability up to roughly 5,000 notes, possible rate-limit delays, and image rendering issues. It excludes Evernote Teams from this route. Treat these as published limits rather than a promise that every smaller import will complete cleanly. Split the trial into manageable notebooks.
Compare content and dates
Open named attachments and a clipped article, then compare a note whose created date matters to you. Check the actual properties instead of assuming the visible order proves dates were preserved. Track missing items by source note title so you can repair individual exceptions without rerunning the whole archive.
If the import appears stuck
Check for newly arriving notes before restarting. Follow Notion’s current troubleshooting instructions and retry a smaller notebook if appropriate. Keep the original data until the reviewed import is usable. If local Markdown files fit your needs better, the linked Evernote-to-Obsidian guide covers that separate route.
